Poland 1612 10 ducats Fr-77
This specimen was lot 1145 in Sincona sale 50 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 44,000 CHF (about US$53,073 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Sigismund III. 1587-1632. 10 Dukaten 1612, Krakau. •SIGISMVNDVS•III•D•G•REX POLO ET SVEC: Gekröntes und geharnischtes Brustbild nach rechts. Rv. •M•D•LITVA:RVSI:PRVSI:-MASO•SAM:LIVON: XC Gekröntes Wappen mit dem Wasa-Mittelschild von der Kette des Goldenen Vlieses umgeben, unter dem Schild die römische Wertzahl zwischen der Jahreszahl. Von grösster Seltenheit. Prüfhieb und Stiftloch im Rand. Gutes sehr schönes Exemplar. (Poland, Sigismund III, 1587-1632, ten ducats of 1612, Krakow mint. Obverse: crowned and armored bust to right; reverse: crowned arms with the escutcheon of Vasa and the Order of the Golden Fleece around and date in Roman numerals. Of the highest rarity, Metal test cut and pinhole on the rim, Good very fine specimen.)"
This rare type was struck 1611-12. Sigismund III (1587-1632), former king of Sweden, resigned his crown and converted to Catholicism to seize the throne of Poland.
