After the American conquest of the Philippines in 1898, the currency was reorganized and a new peso was issued 1903-06. This coin was reduced from 26.95 grams to 20 grams in 1907 and issued in that form until 1912. Many dates are very common but the 1911-S and 1912-S are scarce. Proofs exist for 1907 and 1908 but are rare. No additional pesos were issued until the commemorative issues of 1936 celebrating the new commonwealth.
