This specimen was lot 2731 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$779 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY | Pesaro, Giovanni Sforza, 1503-1510. Grosso o. J. Good very fine." Pesaro is today a commune on the Adriatic Sea north of Fano. Prior to the unification of Italy, it was part of the Papal States but was only loosely controlled by the pope. Wikipedia comments, "During the Renaissance [Pesaro] was ruled successively by the houses of Montefeltro (1285–1445), Sforza (1445–1512) and Della Rovere (1513–1631)." Giovanni Sforza was from a different branch of the family than the dukes of Milan.
