In 1991, the currency was reformed, one nuevo sol = one million intis. This type was struck for circulation in Peru 1991-2001 and is common in all grades. Varieties exist in the size and spacing of the dots comprising the Braille lettering. The alloy was changed to copper-nickel in 2001.

Recorded mintage: 5,000,000.

Specification: 5.52 g, nickel brass, 22 mm diameter, reeded edge.
