This bi-metallic five soles was issued 1994-2009. It features a hummingbird in the style drawn on the plains of Nazca on the reverse. In 1991, the currency was reformed, one nuevo sol = one million intis. Surprisingly enough, the nuevo sol has remained stable against the dollar (US$1 = S/. 2.77, October 2013, US$1 = S/. 3.63, January 2021).
Recorded mintage: unknown but common.
Specification: 6.67 g, bi-metallic (nickel-brass center and stainless steel ring), 24.38 mm diameter.
