Peru 1939 10 centavos

The ten centavos denomination was originally occupied by the silver dinero, struck 1863-1917. It was superseded by a copper-nickel coin in 1918, which was replaced by a brass type in 1942 when World War Two drove up the price of nickel. This sub-type, issued 1935-41, replaced a slightly different type issued 1918-26. It is accompanied by copper-nickel five and twenty centavos.
