This dinero, or dime, was struck 1888-1916 in Lima, Peru, in respectable numbers. Many were saved and uncirculated specimens are available tho this date is scarce. Most issued after 1898 were made from melted down one sol coins. Varieties and overdates abound. A earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1863-77 (KM 190). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel ten centavos. There are many overdate combinations for the year, no less than five. The coin shown is probably 1903/892.
Recorded mintage: 887,000.
Specification: 2.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.0723 ASW, reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM 204.2.
