This medio dinero, or half dime, was struck in Lima in 1864. Most issued after 1898 were made from melted down one sol coins. Varieties and overdates abound; for 1864, no varieties are listed by Bruce[1]. A later type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1890-1917 (KM 206). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel five centavos.
