This specimen was lot 71854 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $5,520. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPUA NEW GUINEA. 500 Kina, 2020. PCGS PROOF-70 Deep Cameo. A fairly RARE type given its small mintage, this flawless specimen radiates with intense appeal and features the famous birds of paradise design first utilized on the late 19th century coinage of German New Guinea. Includes original box of issue and pamphlet with serial number 91/400." Currently (March 2022), 1 PGK = US$0.284.
