This specimen was lot 3510 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Pius IX, 1846-1878, AR 5 baiocchi, 1847-IB, lustrous fields, faint hairlines, choice About Unc." This type was struck 1847-55 and competed with a copper five baiocchi (KM 1346) struck 1849-50. It was lowered to 0.800 fine in 1856 and then raised to 0.835 fine for 1865-66.

Recorded mintage: 2,387,100.

Specification: 1.34 g, 0.900 fine silver, 17 mm diameter.
