This specimen was lot 75753 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Papal (States of the Church). 5 Baiocchi, 1836-B Anno VI. Gregory XVI. PCGS MS-65." This type was struck 1835-46 at Rome and Bologna (shown here) as part of the first decimal reform of papal coinage. The medieval testone, giulii, grossi, zecchini and doppie were dropped in favor of a silver scudo divided into 100 baiocchi.
