This specimen was lot 1833 in Stephen Album sale 37 (Santa Rosa, CA, June 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PAPAL STATES: Pius VII, 1800-1823, AR testone, 1803-R, two-year type, Arabic numerals in date, Very Good to Fine, RRR, ex Wolfgang Schuster Collection." This scarce type was also struck in 1802. A testone was thirty baiocchi.

Recorded mintage: 8,100.

Specification: 30 mm diameter, 7.95 g, 0.917 fine silver.
