This specimen was lot 25240 in Heritage sale 3019 (Chicago, April 2012), where it sold for $1,150. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic 1/2 Balboa 1933, MS65 NGC, a superb and fully original example with sharply defined features and aged toning. The example in the Whittier Collection was MS63 and brought $575; this piece is well superior. Very rare quality and perhaps the finest known." This specimen was struck in the United States for Panama using half dollar blanks. The type was issued 1930-34 and 1947, which last is the only reasonably common date.

Specification: 12.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, .361 troy oz ASW, 30.6 mm diameter, reeded edge.
