Künker sale 335, lot 4184

This specimen was lot 4184 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €480 (about US$628 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NÜRNBERG, STADT. Konv.-Taler 1780, mit Titel Josefs II. Mit Laubrand. Feine Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, convention thaler of 1780, in the name of Joseph II, with laurel wreath. Fine patina, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1765, 1768, 1780 and is fairly common for Nurnberg. City view thalers were becoming quaint by 1780.
