Nova Scotia 1840 1/2 penny token

This specimen was lot 74405 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Nova Scotia. Copper 1/2 Penny Token, 1840. Victoria. PCGS MS-62 Brown. Ex: Doug Robins Collection." This type was struck 1840 and 1843 and is fairly common in worn condition. A one penny token also exists. Varieties exist in the size of the "0" in the date. Decimal coinage was introduced in 1861 and used until confederation.
