New Caledonia 1949 franc

This issue was minted in Paris for the French colony of New Caledonia in 1949 along with an aluminum 50 centimes and two francs. This coin shares a common obverse with other types issued for various French colonies. The fifty centimes was not issued again but modified versions of the one and two francs were issued 1971-2000. An aluminum five francs was added in 1952.
Recorded mintage: 4,000,000.
