Sincona sale 63, lot 1426

This specimen was lot 1426 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 17,000 CHF (about US$21,301 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NETHERLANDS EASTINDIA | Bandjermasin (Borneo), 2 Dukaton 1750 (Jahreszahl 1570). Inländische Nachahmung eines Holländischen Doppelten Dukatons in Gold. MO:NO:ARG:ON:N(Retrograd) - OE:BE:LG:PHO:HOL Wappen, Reiter mit erhobenem Schwert zu Pferd. Rv. Trugschrift. Spiegelverkehrte Darstellung. Gekröntes Wappen, je zu beiden Seiten Löwen. Vgl. Schulman veiling 241. lot 615. Äusserst selten. Vorzüglich. (Netherlands East Indies, Bereno, double ducaton of 1750, local imitation of a Dutch double ducaton in gold. Obverse: armored and mounted knight; reverse: crowned arms supported by two lions. Extremely rare, Extremely fine.)"
