This specimen was lot 17877 in Heritage auction 354 (the Horwedel sale, Long Beach, CA, September 2004), where it sold for $948.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Los Angeles, CA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 609 The Peoples NB Ch. # 12755, The first title used by this bank, which issued using this nomenclature from its inception in June of 1925 through June of 1928. Six notes are listed in the census, with this right up there with the best of them. Bright Very Fine."

The catalog description[1] noted, "Los Angeles, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 635 The NB of Commerce Ch. # 12755. A high grade example which is right up there with the finest known large notes bearing this title, the second used here. Very Fine, with Treasury engraved signatures."

Just five notes are known from this bank in small size, with this the only $5 example reported to date. Fine. Purchased at Currency Auctions of America's October 1995 sale, lot 1776."

A second example from this very scarce bank, with this piece a virtual duplicate of the Colver collection example which reached $660 more than five years ago. Fine."
