National Bank of Commerce in Los Angeles, California
This specimen was lot 3479 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Chicago, August 2013), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Unique National Bank of Commerce in Los Angeles National, National Bank Note. Los Angeles, California. $5 1902 RS. Fr. 588. The NB of Commerce. Charter #8117. Very Good. This 1902 Red Seal is the only note known on this Los Angeles charter and will certainly be of high interest to advanced collectors of California National Bank notes. It is seen in a well circulated but still appealing Very Good grade with only a bit of lifted paper at the upper left and lower right along with a few margin tears. The signatures are absent, as expected for the condition, although being unique lessens the impact of that drawback. The last time this note sold publicly was in 2004 where it brought $4,025.
