Steve Album sale 55, lot 2418

This specimen was lot 2418 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Shah Alam II, 1759-1806, AR rupee, Shahjahanabad, AH1184 year 12, a lovely lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS63." This type was struck years 1-14 and is fairly common. By the end of Shah Alam's reign, the Mughal Empire had shrunk to the point where the Shahjahanabad (Delhi) mint was the only one under the emperor's direct control.
