Steve Album sale 54, lot 2195

This specimen was lot 2195 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Shah Alam Bahadur, 1707-1712, AR rupee, Peshawar, AH1121 year 3, very rare variety, with floral symbol at the far right of the reverse, 2 small testmarks, bold VF, RR." The Peshawar mint struck this rupee in years 3 and 4 only. SCWC lists 21 mints for the type 347 rupee. Peshawar, now in Pakistan, was captured by the emperor Babur in 1526 and held by the Mughals until 1738, when it was taken by the Afsharids.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better mint.
