This specimen was lot 907 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Aurangzeb, 1658-1707, AV mohur, Akbarabad, AH1083 year 16, lovely bold strike, NGC graded MS64." The Mughal Empire dominated India during the seventeenth century but broke up in the eighteenth century under external attack, Hindu rebellion and civil war. This collapse allowed European colonizers entry into the subcontinent and eventual British control. This type is listed for this mint for years 1-31. Sixty-four mints struck this issue.
