This specimen was lot 2191 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Shah Jahan I, 1628-1658, AR rupee, Multan, AH1045 year 8, NGC graded AU55." Shah Jahan is most remembered today for having built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum for his wife. This mint struck this rupee in this style during AH 1042-1069. Twenty-five other mints shared in this issue.
