This specimen was lot 42445 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $10,370. The catalog description[1] noted, "Stunning Nearly Flawless 1/2 Rupee, INDIA. Mughal Empire. 1/2 Rupee, AH 1035 Year 2[0] (1624/5). Surat Mint. In the name of Nur Jahan and Jahangir. NGC MS-66. "Sad zewar" poetic couplet. This bright and handsome premium Gem displays a beautiful fresh appearance, with full luster and powerfully struck calligraphy. A VERY RARE type, we expect fierce competition for this elusive Nur Jahan piece." Surat was one of seven mints to strike this rather scarce type which mentions Jahangir's queen, Nur Jahan. It is known for years 19 thru 21.
