This specimen was lot 2032 in Stephen Album sale 27 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2017), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Farrukhsiyar, 1713-1719, AV mohur, Khujista Bunyad, year 3. Two testmarks, EF." The Mughal Empire stretched over most of India in the early eighteenth century and numerous mints struck gold mohurs for the emperor. The Mughal Empire dominated India during the seventeenth century but broke up in the eighteenth century under external attack, Hindu rebellion and civil war. This collapse allowed European colonizers entry into the subcontinent and eventual British control. The SCWC lists forty mints for this ruler, with the Khujista Bunyad mint noted for years one thru seven.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 10.8-11.0 g, gold, this specimen 10.92 g.

Catalog reference: KM-390.19, Fr-824.
