Mughal Empire AH1112/44 mohur Fr-810
This specimen was lot 514 in Sincona sale 46 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 660 CHF (about US$792 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"INDIA, Mughal, Aurangzeb Alamgir, 1068-1118 AH (1658-1707). Mohur 1700/01 (1112AH, 44. Regierungsjahr), Hyderabad. Vorzüglich. (Mughal empire, Aurangzeb, 1658-1707, gold mohur of AH 1112, year 44, Hyderabad mint. Extremely fine.)"
This type is listed from over sixty mints in India. The Mughal Empire dominated India during the seventeenth century but broke up in the eighteenth century under external attack, Hindu rebellion and civil war. This collapse allowed European colonizers entry into the subcontinent and eventual British control.
