Stephen Album sale 50, lot 557

This specimen was lot 557 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "MUGHAL: Farrukhsiyar, 1713-1719, AR rupee, Tatta, year one (ahad), with special couplet, naming Ahmad as sahib qiran salis, 'the third lord of the auspicious conjunction', phrase used only for this mint & year, without any testmarks, strong VF, RR, ex Paul Stevens Collection, ex SARC Auction 23 Lot 1589." The SCWC lists this type, struck only at Tatta, for AH 1124-1125, both with regnal date 1. The date is off the planchet on this example so we can only date it to circa 1713. The regular rupee (type 377) was struck at 63 mints and is common.
