This specimen is from a one-year type struck in the waning days of the French protectorate over Morocco ("Maroc" in French). It is struck from silver at the Paris mint at a time when metropolitan French coinage contained no silver. The French left in 1956 and king Mohammed V resumed his status as an independent potentate.
Recorded mintage: 10,176,000.
