Morocco AH 1336-Pa 1/2 rial
Muley Yusuf I was proclaimed sultan in AH 1330 after his brother abdicated. He oversaw a time of various conflicts, including a rebellion that resulted in occupation by French forces (and issue of coins under the French protectorate). As with his predecessors, his identity is only alluded to on the coins, without directly stating his name.
Shown is a silver half rial coin from the Paris mint, dated AH 1336, or 1918 AD. It was lot 1084 and sold for $150 on Dec 11, 2010 at the Stephen Album Rare Coins Sale 9. The catalog description reads: "MOROCCO: Yusuf, 1912-1927, AR 5 dirhams, Paris, AH1336, Brilliant Uncirculated."
