This specimen was lot 1507 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $164.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "MOROCCO: Mohammed V, 1927-1961, 50 centimes, 1942/1361, KM-PE-A1, Lec-216, piéfort ESSAI, mintage of 104 pieces at the Paris mint, prooflike surfaces, Brilliant Unc, R." This pattern of 1942 was struck in regular thickness (KM E28) and a piedfort (KM PEA1, shown here). This design did not go into production until 1945 as Y40. Pattern one and two francs were also struck in 1942.
Recorded mintage: 175 plus 250 of the regular thickness (KM E28)[2].
