This specimen was lot 48046 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "MONTENEGRO. 10 Perpera, 1910. Nicholas I. PCGS MS-61. Bare Head variety." After maintaining her independence for centuries against the Turks, Montenegro was occupied by the Austrians during World War One and then the Serbs and more or less forcibly incorporated into Yugoslavia, Nicolas losing his throne in the process. The coinage runs 1906-14. This one year type is based not on the French ten francs but on the Austria corona, which is slightly heavier. Twenty and hundred perpera also exist.

Recorded mintage: 40,000 plus 35,003 of the head left (KM 9).

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.0980 troy oz AGW.
