This specimen was lot 74108 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "MONACO. 100 Francs, 1882-A. Paris Mint. Charles III. NGC EF-45. An always demanded type, this piece yields strong details and shimmering luster throughout, with traces of golden luster retained in the protected areas of the design." This date is one of three dates struck in Paris 1882-86, allegedly for use in the prince's newly opened casino in Monte Carlo. The denomination was continued 1891-1904 by his successor, Albert I. The coin matches the specification of the contemporary French hundred francs.
