Monaco 1943 2 francs rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck at the Paris mint for the principality of Monaco during the reign of Louis II (r. 1922-49). The module matches that of a Vichy French two francs of the 1942-44 period. It is a one-year type, accompanied by an aluminum one franc (KM 120) and fairly common. Monaco was occupied by Italy in 1943 and by the Nazis in 1944, who deported and murdered as many Jews as they could find.

Recorded mintage: 1,250,000.

Specification: 2.25 g, 27 mm diameter, aluminum.

Catalog reference: KM 121.
