These specimen were issued by the Mexico City mint to celebrate the World Cup of soccer. Like many recent issues, they remain unlisted in the SCWC. Four different designs were issued, of which we show three. The first honors the host city of Guadalajara, the next Mexico City and the third Monterrey. A fourth design, a bottom, honored all of them together. The oblong patch on the obverse contains microengraving with a latent image, an anticounterfeiting device. The twenty pesos was reduced from 15.95 g, 32 mm diameter to 12.67 g, 30 mm diameter, in 2019.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 12.67 g, nickel brass center in an aluminum bronze ring, 30 mm diameter, interrupted reeded edge.
Catalog reference: KM unlisted.
