Mexico 1980 10 centavos rev DSLR.jpg

The stress of inflation in the 1970's as Mexico squandered her oil bonanza caused many coin types to come and go. This type was introduced in 1974 and lasted until 1980, when the regime gave up producing the now worthless coin. For 1980, blunt and pointed stem varieties exist and a 1980/79 overdate. Maize, sacred crop of the Americas, appears on the obverse.

Recorded mintage: 21,290,000.

Specification: 1.5 g, copper-nickel, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 434.1.
