Künker Auction 425, lot 1085

This specimen was lot 1085 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,691 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"EUROPÄISCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · FRANKREICH/LOTHRINGEN, METZ, STADT Goldgulden 1624. GOLD. RR Kl. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön +. (kingdom of France, city of Metz, godlgulden of 1624. Very rare, planchet defect on the edge, very fine or better.)"

This type is listed for 1620, 1623-24, 1631 and undated. The dated specimens bring double those without. Metz was occupied by France in 1552 and annexed thereto in 1648.
