This specimen was lot 42336 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it sold for $1,708. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Mecklenburg. Taler, 1556. Grevesmuhlen Mint. Ulrich III. NGC EF-40. Lovely even strike with pleasant uniform patina, modestly handled on highpoints but still with attractive details. From the Heisner Collection from Down Under." Altho some auction cataloguers have attributed this issue to Mecklenburg-Schwerin, it was actually issued when Mecklenburg-Schwerin and Mecklenburg-Gustrow were temporarily merged. The duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz did not yet exist.
