This specimen was lot 34581 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Friedrich Franz II Proof Taler 1867-A PR66 PCGS. Berlin, (A), mint. 25th year of reign commemorative. Virtually never encountered in Proof." It was offered again in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, CA, September 2016), where it sold for $1,527.50. Mecklenburg-Schwerin lies in the far north of Germany on the Baltic Sea. This type is fairly unusual but is not rare in circulated condition.
