This specimen was lot 43433 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "MAURITIUS. 25 Sous, ND (1822). PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. Minor adjustment marks on reverse. Well struck with beautiful iridescent tone. A lovely example with good eye appeal." The island was settled by the Dutch 1598-1710, then the French 1715-1810, then under British rule 1815-1968. Decimal coinage was introduced in 1877.
