This specimen was lot 75437 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALTA. Order of Malta. 2 Tari, 1779. Emmanuel de Rohan. PCGS AU-58. The first example we have seen of this elusive one-year type in recent records. Ample luster remains in the fields, with light wear over the high points in line with the assigned grade." This is a one year type. The Maltese used currency derived from their neighbors the Sicilians; 20 grani = one tari, 12 tari = one scudo.
