SB121-24148r.jpg

This specimen was lot 24148 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALTA. 6 Tari (1/2 Scudo), 1776. Emmanuel de Rohan. NGC EF-40. A somewhat crude issue, this lightly toned and mildly circulated example features solid centering and stands as the finer of just two graded in by NGC." This type was struck 1776 and 1780. It is not listed as expensive but it likely scarcer than the catalog indicates.
