This specimen was lot 3696 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALDIVE ISLANDS: Muhammad 'Imad al-Din IV, 1835-1882, AE 2 lari, Mahle, AH1298, XF, ex Syed Rabbi Collection." Varieties exist. The Maldives are an island group in the Indian Ocean; they were a protectorate of Britain 1887-1968. The natives make their living by fishing. The island group is slowly being inundated by rising sea levels.
