"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · MAGDEBURG, ERZBISTUM Albrecht IV. von Brandenburg, 1513-1545. Guldengroschen 1538, Magdeburg. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Attraktives, fast vorzügliches Exemplar. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 134, Osnabrück 2008, Nr. 490. (Germany, archbishopric of Magdeburg, Albert IV of Brandenburg, 1513-45, guldengroschen of 1538, Magdeburg mint. Scarce in this quality, attractive about extremely fine example.)"
This type was struck 1537-42. Wikipedia comments, "Albert von Brandenburg (1490-1545) was a German cardinal, elector, Archbishop of Mainz from 1514 to 1545, and Archbishop of Magdeburg from 1513 to 1545. Through his notorious sale of indulgences, he became the catalyst for Martin Luther's Reformation and its staunch opponent." Magdeburg went over to Lutheranism quickly and was ruled by Lutherans after 1551.
