Lucca 1726 grosso
This specimen was lot 1849 in Jean Elsen sale 154 (Brussels, March 2023), where it sold for €120 (about US$155 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIE, LUCQUES, République (1369-1799), AR grosso (6 soldi), 1726. D/ Les lettres L-U-C-A formant une croix, autour d'une rosette. R/ *SANCTVS•- VVLTVS* La Sainte Face du Christ, couronnée, de trois quarts à g. Fines griffes. Très Beau. (Italy, republic of Lucca, silver groat of six soldi of 1726. Obverse: "L-U-C-A" arranged in a circle aroound a rosette; reverse: the Holy Face of Christ, crowned, three-quarters right. Fine scratches, Very Fine.)"
