Lothian 1796 half penny token D&H-52
This specimen was lot 1788 in Jean Elsen sale 163 (Brussels, November 2025), where it sold for €120 (about US$139 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ÉCOSSE, Token, Lothian, Édimbourg, Cu halfpenny, 1796. D/ Vue sur la General Register House d'Édimbourg. R/ Britannia assise à g., un navire voguant à d. à l'horizon. Rare. Tranche lisse. Brisure de coin au droit, habituelle pour ce type. (Great Britain, Scotland, Lothian, Edinburgh, copper half penny of 1796. Obverse: view of the General Register House; reverse: Britannia seated left, a ship sails right on the horizon. Rare, plain edge, die break on the obverse, as is usual for this type. Uncirculated.)"
