This specimen was lot 20496 in Ponterio sale 161 (Chicago, August 2011), where it sold for $920. The catalog description^[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. Tollero, 1708. Cosimo III (1670-1723). Livorno (Leghorn). Toned. NGC EF-45." This type was struck by the Medici Grand Duke of Tuscany for Livorno 1707-23. The Italian word tollero may be translated into the German word thaler or the English word dollar.
