Liege (1507-08) florin d'or Fr-303
This specimen was lot 1134 in Jean Elsen sale 158 (Brussels, March 2024), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,691 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LIEGE, Principauté, Erard de la Marck (1506-1538), AV florin d'or postulat, s.d. (1507-1508). D/ Ecu à la croix chargée d'un écusson de la Marck, dans un trilobe anglé. R/ Saint Lambert deb. de f., bénissant et ten. une crosse. Rare. Beau à Très Beau. Provient de la collection A. Symkens, Liège, 25 novembre 1991. (prince-bishopric of Liège, Érard de La Marck, 1506-38, undated gold florin postulat, circa 1507-08. Obverse: a shield with a cross and the escutcheon of the bishop within an angled trilobe; reverse: St. Lambert standing, holding a cross and blessing with one hand. Rare, Fine - Very Fine.)"
This coin weighs only three-fifths of a proper florin or ducat plus the alloy is uncertain.
