Steve Album sale 51, lot 1378

This specimen was lot 1378 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "KOREA: Yung Hi, 1907-1910, AR 10 chon, year 4 (1910), attractive luster with light rose toning, a lovely mint-state example from the final year of issue, PCGS graded MS63." This type, roughly equal to a dime, was struck 1908-10 in the last years of Korean independence before annexation by Japan. Korea would not recover her independence until 1945 and even then in a divided state.

Recorded mintage: 9,500,000.

Specifications: 2.25 g, 0.800 fine silver, 17.6 mm diameter.
