Steve Album Auction 55, lot 2506

This specimen was lot 2506 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "KISHANGARH: Birad Singh, 1781-1788, AR rupee, Kishangarh, AH(11)98 year 24, clear date & regnal year, bold VF, R." This type is listed for years 24 and 25 and is common. This example shows only a partial AH date but one can see that all the digits were intended to be there. Kishangarh was a princely state adjacent to Ajmer-Merwara in the Rajputana. The first ruler, Kishan Singh, was granted his domain by the Mughal emperor Jahangir in the early seventeenth century.
