Stack's Bowers April 2021 Hong Kong sale, lot 53260

This specimen was lot 53260 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. Kirin. 7.2 Candareens (10 Cents), CD (1903). PCGS VF-35 Gold Shield. Variety with no dot within Manchu script and six flames on fiery ball. A pleasantly toned minor with even wear and great originality." This type, with the yin and yang at the center, was struck 1901-05. The Kirin mint returned to the flower vase type (Y180) for 1906-07.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.
